P.E.O. is an organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.
P.E.O. started with a group of seven young women over 150 years ago on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Today, with an active membership of almost 240,000 women, P.E.O. offers the gift of friendship, love, service and philanthropy.
P.E.O. arrived in Arkansas in 1892 with the organization of a chapter in Eureka Springs, and by 1933 there were 11 chapters in Arkansas and our state chapter was established. As of August 2019, there are 117 local chapters and 5,129 members in Arkansas.
