Welcome

P.E.O. is an organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.

P.E.O. started with a group of seven young women over 150 years ago on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Today, with an active membership of almost 240,000 women, P.E.O. offers the gift of friendship, love, service and philanthropy.

Arkansas History

P.E.O. arrived in Arkansas in 1892 with the organization of a chapter in Eureka Springs, and by 1933 there were 11 chapters in Arkansas and our state chapter was established. As of March 2019, there are 116 local chapters and 5,129 members in Arkansas.

Educational Opportunities for Women

Our sisterhood proudly offers educational opportunities through six philanthropies: stewardship of Cottey College, a women’s college in Nevada, Missouri, and five additional projects that provide educational assistance. To date, 105,000 women have received $321 million. For more information, visit the  official website of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

P.E.O. members are proud of the organization and are committed to helping women pursue higher education. Speaking with a P.E.O. in your community will provide an opportunity to learn about their chapter and what P.E.O. means to them.
